Every now and then we may use
Socrative
to ask or answer questions as a class—my Socrative room is
DONDILMU
- We continue to live in very fluid and dynamic circumstances—make sure to follow the university’s pandemic portal for the latest news, updates, and policies—to which this class must, of course, adhere
Map of the Semester
Here’s what’s on tap this semester, week by week. A version of this is on the syllabus but this one has live links and will be easier to reference during class. How to read/use this map:
- Week of: This is the Sunday of that week
- What We’ll Do in Class: Activity/material/content during that week’s class
- How to Prepare: What to read/watch/do, if any, before that week’s class
-
What to Submit: What to turn in, if any, by
Wednesday 11:59:59.999pm of that week (unless otherwise
indicated—and there are some exceptions, especially closer to the
end of the semester)
- indicates a Brightspace submission
- indicates an email submission
- Some assignments have both
- What to Do Outside of Class: What to do in between classes for that week—usually aligns with “How to Prepare” and “What to Submit” for the next week
Got that? If there are any questions, please ask me. And now, the map itself…

Week of February 28
- What We’ll Do in Class: Nothing—it’s spring break 🌻
- What to Do Outside of Class: Keep working on your Proposal draft—in particular, have enough so that you can formulate your Elevator story
N.B. You had around one month from the first deliverable (Study party video 1) before the first truly big one is due (Research-oriented annotated bibliography). The next sizable deliverables (Proposal draft, Presentation draft) are then due four and two weeks apart after that, respectively. After those, you will have around one month for refinement and polishing before the final proposal and presentation are due.
The upshot: the course work ramps up closer to the middle of the semester rather than the end. Plan your time accordingly. You will want to be primarily in “refinement mode” by the middle of April.
